Every year, I offer my services as a photographer and writer to at least one charitable cause, entirely free of any charge. I believe that storytellers in local and global communities have a duty to highlight and amplify the work of people who are taking real action to make positive changes.
I serve predominantly local, grassroots charities and organisations who support initiatives for women, children, indigenous empowerment and autonomy, animal rescue and environment/ecology. These charities and organisations are small, location-specific and community-based. Clients are licensed to use these images to promote themselves and their work.
The images are also used as part of a photo story and featured on The Pure Land Co website. The Pure Land is a blog run by myself, featuring topics such as responsible travel, sustainable living and the connecting of humans through ground-up ethnology.
Animal Rescue Kefalonia
In the early summer of 2019, I visited the Greek Ionian island of Kefalonia. Animal Rescue Kefalonia is an organisation launched and spearheaded by a single woman and a tiny staff of volunteers. They rescue, treat and attempt to rehome Kefalonia’s stray dog and cat population, as well bringing legal action against individuals who mistreat and abuse animals. They are at the forefront of the gradual shift in attitudes towards animals that is long overdue in Greece.
The full story of the organisation will follow soon, along with interviews with volunteers and detailed information on how you can help the organisation while exploring the incredible Greek island of Kefalonia.
Disclaimer: although I am open to a wide variety of organisations, in the interest of absolute fairness and impartiality, I am unable to work with faith-specific groups. I research all organisations thoroughly and request government registration certificates and history of activity from all applicants. I accept no payment and no non-monetary benefits from this work and the final images will not be used for commercial purposes by either myself or the organisations to whom they pertain. Full terms and conditions of this program are available on application.
